We've made a lot of progress with Spaces over the last few weeks and trust you'll enjoy taking the new features for a test drive.
As with the previous release, we've been busy working under the bonnet and have made significant changes and improvements to our underlying database technology. Unfortunately, this means that previous models are no compatible with this release. However, following our commercial release (due in the next few weeks), we'll ensure your models automatically upgrade if we make changes of this nature in the future.
The first and most obvious change is the updated UI. We've kept the basic structure and layout and improved it graphically with new icons and more consistent styling. We also worked to ensure a better dark-mode experience for those who prefer that styling.
We're pretty happy with how the App feels with this updated UI.
We introduced the ability to sketch a Site in an earlier version. With this update, we have made some improvements:
You can now create multiple sites for when you are working on an extensive development.
These can be drawn individually or sketched all at once with multiple sites created with a single finger tap:
We've also introduced specific line styles for displaying sites, making them easy for you to recognise.
At this stage, we still need to update the Site related reports to ensure that buildings are correctly reported based on which Site they reside.
Vector Editing - Guidelines
Our users love the Vector editing, and we've made a series of improvements with this release.
When editing, you will now see a series of Guidelines to which you can snap the polygon nodes.
When snapping, you will also know if you are creating perfect right-angled corners based on the visual feedback provided.
Guidelines are generated based on the edges of the shape you are editing.
Orthogonal Guidelines are generated for all nodes in the drawing.
Guidelines can be turned off via the Drawing Settings if required.
The Drag and Rotate tools have now work with Guidelines, and rotation also snaps to key angles.
You can now also delete nodes when using the Vector editor. Just drag the node over an adjacent node to delete it.
Onboarding and Context Help
As we drive towards our commercial release, we've added an Onboarding System for new users.
While you've been testing the App for several releases, you can still check out this guide via the Support Menu.
We've also introduced context-sensitive help to get specific support based on which tool or view you currently have selected.
Along with the key features outlined above, we've also continued fixing and polishing our existing features, including:
- Clean and Clear Datum Palette with no overlapping text
- More control over Storey Height - especially in conjunction with multi-selection
- Updated Building and Zone Defaults
- Addition of Plant & Equipment Usage Type
- Report improvements
- Improved 3d Zoom to extents
- You can create multiple Planning Zones with a single finger tap in the same way as Sites above
- Added a Project North
