Sun studies are part of our paid subscription plans.
Sun and shadow studies are an essential part of early design to ensure your design is sympathetic to its surroundings.
Sun studies can be created in no time at all:
- Enter your project location, you can do this in the Project settings, or the Sun settings
image - Select the Sun tool
image - Select from the preset dates and time to have your sun and shadows update accordingly
Note: remember to use the different orthogonal views to clearly see the shadow extents
Display settings
When you switch to the Sun study tool the project sun is automatically set to be the "real" calculated sun.
If you want to switch back to the default sun just toggle the relevant display setting:
360 degree "fake sun"
If you switch off the real sun as per the above, you can light your building from any angle.
Simply use the slider across the bottom of the 3d window to rotate the run through a full 360 degrees:
